Pediatric Dentistry

Making the first experience of a dentist an unremarkable one.

Children’s dentistry is as much about the experience as the treatment. A child who is frightened at six often becomes an adult who avoids the dentist entirely — and arrives decades later with problems that could have been prevented.

We treat baby teeth properly rather than waiting for them to fall out. They hold space for the adult teeth behind them, and infection in a baby tooth can affect the permanent tooth developing underneath.

What treatment involves

  1. 01

    Getting comfortable

Early visits are about familiarity — seeing the room, the chair, and the instruments without anything happening.

  2. 02

    Prevention

Cleaning, fluoride application, and sealants on the biting surfaces of back teeth, where decay in children most often starts.

  3. 03

    Treatment when needed

Fillings and other treatment carried out at a pace the child can manage, with a parent present.

Good to know

  • A first visit is generally recommended around the time the first teeth appear, or by age one to two.
  • Avoid describing the visit using words like "hurt", "needle", or "brave" beforehand — it introduces an idea that was not there.
  • Bottles or sippy cups of milk or juice at bedtime are a common cause of early childhood decay.
